JIU JITSU STAR JOINS UFC

Milton Vieira, one of the most notable exponents of Jiu Jitsu to hail from Brazil in recent years is set to make his debut in the eight sided ring of the Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC on the 23rd of June, 2012 at the Joao Havelange Stadium in UFC 147. Vieira, who has a Mixed Martial Arts record of 13-7-1, will come face to face with Felipe Arantes, who has a UFC record of 1-1 in the pay per event of the promotion, according to the Brazilian Twitter account.

Vieira is one of the most talented exponents of the traditional form of Jiu Jitsu from Brazil, a country famed for producing athletes like Jon Jones and Anderson Silva, who are holders of Black Belts in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but Vieira showed his prowess in the traditional format of the sport from a very young age and has since gone on to achieve all the heights in the sport, making him a premier fighter in Mixed Martial Arts, thanks to his background in the sport.

The 33 year old has been credited for inventing the now infamous Anaconda Choke in Mixed Martial Arts and although he did not fare well in his previous few MMA matches against Welterweight fighters, his debut in the Octagon of the UFC come the 23rd of June will hold several clues as to how his career will unfold in the future.

Moreover, having had enough experience in the ring, it is expected that Vieira will sweep past Arantes with ease but owing to his poor form and fitness, if he doesn’t manage to win the match, lots of question marks will be raised as to why the UFC has signed a washed out Jiu Jitsu karate black belt than going for someone who is young enough to sustain himself.
