Focus on Jiu Jitsu

Jiu Jitsu is a simple concept of a martial arts or a self defense system which focuses on the concept of grappling and ground fighting. It requires ample amount of time to excel in and is derived from the Japanese art of Kodokan Judo. This form of martial art is extremely important and useful as it teaches one that even if you are smaller than your opponent in size, you can defeat him with the use of leverage and proper technique. It has originated in the countries of Brazil and Japan and deals with full contact of the two fighters.

Sparring and live drilling play a major role while training an individual in Jiu Jitsu. It is also an important factor which plays a major role in competitions where judges score each player upon their performance. This art form was first originated with Mitsuyo Maeda who was a member of the Kodokan clan. Maeda first trained in sumo as a teenager, shifted to judo and eventually decided to develop Jiu Jitsu from the traditional judo. He died in 1941 receiving his 7th Dan in Kodokan judo.

Jiu Jitsu is more than just an art form used for fighting. It is a little different from its parent judo in a way that Jiu Jitsu is more of a sport rather than just a martial art. It is a means by which one can promote fitness and character building of an individual and eventually find a way of improving in life. Even the sport is all about the use of correct approaches and techniques at the right instances to ensure that the opponent is unable to supersede your attack and move. There are points given for the various moves and initiatives taken and it eventually boils down to the number of points that decided the winner.
